My friend Scarlett is coming to visit at the end of this month. I haven't seen her in person for something like 6 years now. Scarlett = awesome, and I'm so excited I can't sit still.

I went out on my bike again today. Wore my new kilt. :) I managed to shave about 10 minutes off the round trip of about 20 miles this time. And I didn't stop for as long at the half-way point this time, only long enough have one of those energy gels. I just got a call from Scarlett! Actually, I just missed a call from Scarlett. I wish I'd known 757 was a Virginia area code. As it is, I didn't recognize it so I let it go to voicemail and just checked it now. But she's okay, and she called me to let me know, and I'm really, really happy!

We've made a couple of new friends, under somewhat extraordinary circumstances. Rachel and I were at a Japanese restaurant when one of the waitresses came up to our table and said to me, "I like your persona." I'm Polack and proud. Dinner last night was Kishka that sabotlours and carol_kitty were kind enough to bring back from Chicago, along with Lemony Cabbage (my own recipe) and some bread. So good.

Milhouse seems to be gaining weight, which I think is a good sign. When you pet him you don't feel his spine so much as before. I just noticed today.
